Both teams are tied at 10 points from 5 games played so far but, Arsenal on top of Chelsea with one goal advantage.
Both teams played away League games midweek with Arsenal playing Nottingham Forest and Chelsea facing Leicester.
Arsenal had their new signing Lucas Perez scored twice on his debut, midfielder Granit Xhaka scored his second goal for the Gunners in the 23rdminute as well and Oxlade-Chamberlain who scored the last goal of the game in the dying minutes that saw Arsenal win 4-0.
The Blues, on the other hand, came from two goals down to make it 2-2 at King Power Stadium and the game was determined in extra minutes when the former Arsenal attacking midfielder Cesc Fabregas was brought in from the bench to score twice in extra time against Leicester’s 10 men after Ryszard Wasilewski was sent off in the 89th minute.
Chelsea travel to the Emirates stadium on Saturday evening for their 6th round Premier League game bearing in mind the loss they suffered against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge last Friday.
Chelsea manager Conte will need to regain the confidence again from Chelsea’s fans against Arsenal on Saturday. Chelsea looks much more threating in terms of hunger for goals than Arsenal, with Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Diego Costa leading the striking line.
Arsenal must display maturity and discipline in defense to contain this Chelsea force.
Arsenal being at home, they have the 12th player behind them only if they can hold their nerves in the midfield and contain the likes N’golo Kante and Matic. I am not sure if Arsenals new attacking signings Perez and Xhaka will be trusted to start this game but, you would think they have more need to prove their worth in England and giving them a chance may give Arsenal an upper hand.
Arsenal’s key player for me is Alexis Sanchez but, despite his efforts this season I am yet to see his best game maybe, Wenger should reposition him.
His full potential can only be realized when he is playing behind the striker which gives him a little bit of freedom to move around the pitch but, Arsenal also can be substandard and deficient sometimes when you don’t expect them, like this particular game, I don’t see them being physically able to fight off Conte’s averagely motivated team for 90 minutes.
I don’t see Arsenal winning this game but, if Chelsea fails to do enough in their defense with Terry away on injury and David Luiz still trying to settle in, Arsenal’s best result can only be a draw but, have in mind they have beaten Chelsea once in the last three meeting at Emirates.
The Nigerian international and former Liverpool player Victor Moses is yet to be given the opportunity to start at Chelsea but, I have seen him change Chelsea’s game every time he is given a chance from the bench.
Arsenal’s Theo Walcott gets the highest goal scoring chances but, scores the least. In such a game you need everyone at their best and to be able to even convert half chances.
It will be a highly tense game given that it is also a derby therefore, we can only wait and see.
